Automatically populate form fields using query strings

The query string is a powerful feature built into Smartsheet forms that allows default values to be passed into a form when it’s opened by an end user. Query strings can be hardcoded with values, or dynamically built using Smartsheet formulas. We’ll cover how to use QR codes with built-in query strings to identify the source of a form submission and how to use query strings with update requests to gather additional information post-submission.

Chad Eiring

Chad Eiring is a Team Lead and Principal TAM on the Smartsheet Technical Account Management Team. He currently resides in El Paso, TX. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in electrical engineering, and the University of Utah with a masters degree in business administration. He holds his Project Management Professional (PMP) and LSS Master Black Belt certifications. Prior to joining Smartsheet, Chad spent over 20 years working in engineering, project and program management, Lean Six Sigma, data science, and new product development.
